In 12 days I will be on my way to the airport with the other half getting ready to board a flight to Prague. So of course I’ve entered full list writing phase; trying to condense down how many layers to take (we are sharing a case so it may actually be more like “how much can I wear on the plane without people looking at me funny”), where to eat and what to see while we are there.
What to do
So far we know that we want to visit Prague Zoo (the polar bears were a factor for me, the honey badger a factor for him and the fact it’s a mere £6 entry was the overall winner!) and have a few hours exploring the grounds and seeing all the animals, and we also want to head over and see the Lennon Wall as well as doing the obvious tourist things such as Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, the Astronomical clock, the Old Town Square and Kampa Island. But is there anything else that we should be seeing too? I like the sound of Petrin Tower; and we have been told to go and see the Flora Metro station, but is there anything any of you could recommend that we do as well as the above? Also we know that we will need a metro/tram/bus ticket to get to the Zoo, but is it worth us getting the 3 day ticket over a 1 day one? Or is the inner city really as walkable as people say?
Where to eat
Now as a couple we like food, many trips have been documented on this site and we love to try something new. Lately we are having a bit of a fiesta for Mexican food and after digging through some reviews and blog posts I found Agave; the menu looks drool worthy and its reasonably priced for what sounds like amazing Mexican food (and if Trip Advisor is anything to go by everyone seems to love it!) so we’re planning on making a reservation there. He really wants a traditional goulash (to accompanied by beer) and I really want to get my hands on some Trdelník, what doesn’t sound amazing about layers a crispy sugared pastry? Exactly. So if you know of the best places to get a hold of any of these items we’d really appreciate a push in the right direction, or just a shove through the restaurants/ pubs door if you’d rather.
Where to drink
Now I’m not a drinker, in fact i don’t drink at all but he’s kind of into his beer and wants to try some of what the city has to offer, so if you have any recommendations of beer halls, nice bars with a view or just nice places to stop and have an afternoon drink we are all ears. I’m claiming back my time of sitting in these pubs with him letting me roam around Sephora, well played in my opinion.
I think that’s about it, if there’s anything you think we’ve missed or you’ve been yourself and have any recommendations we’d love to hear them. We are staying smack bang in the middle of Wenceslas Square and the Old Town Square so we are in easy reach of most things, which makes out options wide open! Until then I’m back to my list making and deciding which grey jumper to take with me. Interesting stuff eh?
