So this monthly post might be two days late; all of the fault is mine and my inability to realise that the month ended but some of the fault has to go to my new found TV addiction, but more on that in a bit…
This month hasn’t been the most exciting of months and has focussed on recovering from the surgery I had just over a week into April; I didn’t leave the house too much due to not being able to walk like a normal human being (but I did however master the ‘hobble’, even if it was only to the fridge and back) and once I did return to work I was working and then just coming home to rest. I can however safely say that I am healing and have (touch wood) been discharged from the recovery clinic.
Going back to the start of the month I attended Chester Food Festival on Easter Sunday and had the most amazing pizza from The Pizza Peddlers; you know when something is just so good that you want to eat the bag and plate it came on? Yeah that. I haven’t been cooking too much this month but I did make burgers topped with smoked cheese and pulled pork that went down well, they were messy but a stain here or there is worth the gain of a burger food baby right? Talking of burgers and the like I left the house on one day to have a try of Revolutions new menu, the email advertising it came into my inbox and with the book online discount we thought we’d go to the Chester branch and give it a go. The Rump Steak sandwich and the MacPhilly Cheese Steak were great picks and I can’t recommend Revolution enough for a good meal that used interesting ingredients; oh and while you’re there get some fried pickles with blue cheese. I could eat a bucket of those things!
Now to the reason that this post is slightly late and my new addiction: Game of Thrones. I’d never really though about watching it before but with all the hype for series five I thought I’d give it a go and well I’m half way through Series 3 already. Two and a half Series in 2 weeks- a little extreme eh? If you haven’t given it a watch I recommend you do so; it can be a bit gory in places but the story lines are really deep and interesting and I can’t wait to see where it goes.
So that’s April wrapped up, May has got some exciting plans including the Foo Fighters (please don’t rain on that day!) and I’m hoping the weather stays good so that I can crack on with developing new recipes and meals. Fingers crossed for BBQ weather soon eh? Fingers crossed that this coming month wont be as dramatic as April; I don’t think I could handle another month like that this soon!
